The safest entrance is located on the west side at approximately 01 20.176S 144 09.977E.
From here proceed to the main village anchorage at approx. position 01 23.533S 144 10.822E or the anchorage at Puhipi: 01 23.645S 144 11.637E.
Take particular care and keep a good lookout as the reef extends well into the lagoon and surrounds the island. In strong winds, there can be some chop.
If you want to visit other islands villagers will happily come with you and show you the way. Most are well versed in the best place for yachts to anchor. Speak to the warden Michael Tahalamwho, who will organize someone, but give plenty of advance notice if you can.
