Vlissingen (Flushing) - Docking

Oct 30, 2014

The port is entered through a set of lock gates which are permanently closed from the end of October until April 1st. This prevents the storm surges from entering the marina and moderates the tidal range, making over-wintering in the water here much more comfortable.

There is a marina close to the lock, and another, the Michiel De Ruyterhaven marina, in the town centre.

If navigating the Scheldt in fog, call the MCSAD (Marine and Coastal Services Shipping Assistance Division ) on VHF channel 14 and they will keep a radar watch for you and warn you of other vessels' positions. At other times, keep a listening watch on VHF 14 and advise MCSAD of your intentions.
