Ireland Security

Overall Crime and Safety

Ireland is a safe country, but petty crime like pickpocketing and bag snatching is common in city centers like Dublin. Visitors should take precautions against theft, such as not displaying wealth, keeping valuables secure and out of sight, and being aware of surroundings in crowded areas and when using ATMs.

For any emergencies, the national police service is An Garda Síochána: Contact Us - Garda

The European emergency number, 112, works in Ireland and can be used for any emergency.

The Irish Tourist Assistance Service (ITAS) can provide help after a crime has been reported to the police.
