Laundry

There are two laundry shops on Charles Binford which is just before the fish market on Ave Charles Darwin. They offer a same day service. Price is based on weight (US$1.50 per kilo) and turnaround time.

Seniora Patricia operates a small laundry in Avenida Padre Julio Herrera, next to the IETEL office.

Also, Sefiora Lusitania is next to the Casablanca Restaurant in Calle Charles Darwin.

Wendy (six blocks up Ave. Baltra, just one house down on the left on Ave. 18th de Febrero – across from Ferriteria Roca). Recommended by cruisers.

There is a laundry down the alley off the main road, where she did a super job and was very reasonable.

Provisions

Because prices tend to be much higher than in mainland Ecuador, it is advisable to provision the boat for the onward passage in either Panama or Salinas and only plan to stock up with whatever fresh produce may be available locally.

Supplies at both Puerto Ayora and Baquerizo Moreno have improved and the choice is surprisingly good. A lot of vegetables are now produced locally, so provisioning a boat for the onward passage is no longer a problem. There are individual farmers on both islands who will take orders for fresh produce. Fresh bread is also available.

Supermarkets

There is a supermarket on the quay which is quite well stocked.  Although small by mainland standards, it provides a good selection of dried, canned, and boxed goods, as well as basic toiletries, cheeses, bottled water, and a liquor section. It opens daily including on Sundays until 1200.

Fresh produce usually arrives on the island on Saturday morning.

Frozen food store “El Frio” has good quality frozen meats, vegetables, cheeses, and more at excellent prices.

Galadistribution, located three streets down Calle Charles Binford from Ave. Baltra (on the road to Tortuga Bay), distributes hard and aged cheeses on the island. Owned by Chris – a Kiwi transplant – who speaks English. They also have a deli and wine selection. Tel.: 09 174 4367.

Markets

Town Market – On Saturday there is an excellent fresh food market  in town – about a 20 minute walk or $2 taxi ride 1km up Av. Baltra (main street). Here you can find a good range of fresh local produce as well as fruit and vegetables from the mainland.

There are also several stalls on the main street (and just off it) selling fruit and vegetables.

Bakery

Panaderia a Rico Pan located on the Calle Indefatigable, Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz – Tel +1 (954)252 6005

Important information for all cruisers who are planning to visit Galapagos Islands: when choosing the agent never ever go for Ronny Sanches, Tironne S.A. We have a very bad experience in March 2018, our passports as well as boat passport was stolen from his office and he even didn’t inform us about that immediately. His phone numbers and office address are wrong in his business card and it was very difficult to cooperate with him.

in fact we traveled in the month of October, and that agent took care of us perfect, besides that we saved budget, unlike other local agents of galapagos.
