The marina here is not cheap, so many cruisers choose to anchor long term at Playa Biesanz, just SE of the marina.
Playa Biesanz:
This anchorage is located just north of Punta Quepos which offers excellent protection from most of the southerly swell.
Take care as there are a number of rocks visible at low tide, but the bottom is sandy so pick a good patch in 5-10m to drop the anchor. At times, the swell can wrap around the point and come into the bay, so it may necesitate the use of a stern anchor to keep you facing into the swell.
This small, pretty bay has a white sand beach with dense jungle behind.
Landing on the beach with your dinghy is possible at the southern end. Be aware of the tide and pull your dinghy high up the beach and secure it appropriately . From the eastern end of the beach there is access to town via a steep (normally quite muddy) path from shore and then a taxi once you get to the road. Vendors/locals on the beach will keep an eye on your dinghy and can arrange a taxi too, but there are also buses to Quepos (5km) or to the Manuel Antonio Natoinal Park (3km).
Where the track joins the road there is a small village with a bank, grocery stores, restaurants and a hotels.
The reef here offers good snorkelling.
