Valparaiso - Docking

May 01, 2015

This is Chile's busiest port. There are two mooring facilities in this harbour that welcome visiting sailors, though both anchorages are a little rolly.  If coming from the South the first is Puerto Deportivo Valparaiso (located at the Baron Pier or Muelle Baron in Spanish) and the Yacht Club de Chile (on some charts named Yacht Club Recreo).

Just north of Valparaiso harbour are two small and protected bays, also with welcoming yacht clubs. Club de Yates de Higuerillas (about 5 miles north) and the Club de Yates de Quintero (about 15 miles north of Valparaiso).  Access to the splendours of Valparaiso is easy from either of these clubs via bus or train.
