Customs clearance no longer needs to be done in Rio - and anyway - international clearance in Rio for pleasure yachts is very difficult and many cruisers give up and come here.
There is now a customs office here (Receita Federal), near the port. Street: Lgo Lapa 35 - Downtown. Open 10:00 to 15:00 hs.
The Policia Federal: on the quay west of the fisherman's wharf.
Capitanio dos Portos: corner of Castelo Branco & César de Noronha.
Both the Policia and Capitanio dos Portos are reported to speak English.
