Fortaleza/Mucuripe - Clearance

Jun 13, 2019

For full details on clearing into and out of Brazil see the Formalities section.

It is possible to anchor at the commercial harbor on arrival to check in. This anchorage, however, is not safe and there's nowhere to leave your dinghy when going ashore. The alternative is to berth at the marina and make the necessary office visits by taxi (cost approx. R$ 100).

Offices are open 24/7, and cruisers report not being charged overtime on a Saturday or being charged any fees for clearing-in.

Authorities should be visited in the following order: Immigration office (Police Federal), Customs (Receita Federal) and Port Captain (Capitania dos Portos).

On departure, the same order is followed.

Allow about two hours for each office visit. English not spoken.
