Port Resolution is located on the east coast of Tanna, one of Vanuatu's southern islands.
It is an ideal location for a stopover to visit Mt Yasur, considered to be the world’s most easily accessible active volcano.
Port Resolution Bay is open from east to north and exposed to an easterly swell. It has space for about 20 boats and is generally well protected from wind and seas.
Take care on entering the harbour, it is most definitely not a place to enter in the dark. A number of boats have hit the rocks at the entrance to Port Resolution over the years.
The people of Port Resolution love yachts visiting and truly enjoy getting to know yachties.
Werry, the Port Resolution Yacht Club (PRYC) manager and his wife Monique and children will be happy to see you. The locals are always happy to help with any tours, transport or provisioning needs. Simple meals and sunset drinks, including beer snacks, can be had.
The glow of the volcano is visible from the anchor at night and in certain winds, expect to receive a light dusting of volcanic ash.
