Coral Bay - Docking

Feb 10, 2020

There is room to anchor as well as many private moorings.

Anchoring:

If you plan to anchor in a designated anchorage for 14 days or more in a six month period you'll need an anchoring permit from the DPNR office. Alternatively moving to a new bay or harbor restarts the 14 days count. See the USVI Formalities/Restrictions section.

Coral Bay can be crowded. Therefore often it is better to anchor a bit further out to get an adequate swinging room. When anchoring it is advisable to keep well away from the north-west shore as there are many sunken boats here, some visible, some not.

Holding is good and the anchorage is reported to be calm.

Moorings:

Alan, at Coral Bay Marine, has limited a chandlery and will also rent you a mooring. He is reported to be a good diesel mechanic as well.

Security:

A locked dinghy with outboard was stolen from the dinghy dock here in April 2019.
