Description:

This island lies on the western side of the Gulf of Thailand. It has been developed for tourism, especially Ao Chaweng and Lamai, both bays on the eastern side of the island and nearest to the airport. Despite its development, there are still some beautiful anchorages on the island.

Koh Samui is a Port of Entry. The island is known for its seafood, tropical fruits, and its coconut sauces.

The harbor for the ferries from the mainland is on the western side of the island, at Ao Nathon.

North of Koh Samui lies Kohn Tao, one of Thailand's leading dive centers.
