Msasani Bay is home to the Dar es Salaam Yacht Club, which offers mooring, guest membership and provides 24/7 dinghy service.
Alternatively you can anchor off the Slipway complex (free) in about 30 feet of water. Holding is good in mud. Moorings here are all taken by local boats, however, if staying long term it is possible to buy and install a new mooring, which you can sell on departure - talk to The Slipway. There is a daylight dinghy service from the Slipway, via Roy on VHF Ch73. The cost is reportedly 10,000TSH per day (approx $4US) or 100,000TSH for unlimited rides, for the month.
Security is considered to be excellent, but normal preventative measures should be taken.
From December to March the Northerly winds (Kaskazi) cause an unacceptable chop to develop in this anchorage. Tanga may be a better option during this period.

A number of local yachties spend the weekends anchored at one of the following islands, depending on the wind direction.
It’s a pleasant break from the hectic club and pretty quiet. The locals will have a long list of things to do and see, but do not miss a visit to the fish market at the harbor entrance for a mind-blowing African fish experience – 6 49,111S 39 17,955E
This is an extremely well sheltered and safe place.
