Mohamed will organise a SIM card for your phone/ internet access. It is possible to buy a SIM card yourself but it is hard to find the shops.

There is internet but the connection is reported to be very slow.

Overseas phone calls via cell phone are expensive. SMS overseas are 30 piastres (100 piastres per Sudanese pound).

Internet via phone or 3G modem, 1 Pound for 24 hours starting at midnight. Send empty SMS to 1234 and that activates your internet.

Good reception at Suakin anchorage, most days. Also good Skyping from there but sometimes a bit of a delay.

Could not find an internet cafe in Suakin.

No internet sites were blocked. Used own computer to check bank accounts and had no problems.
