Where is Charlestown?

Nevis is the smaller of the two islands comprising the nation of St. Kitts and Nevis in the Caribbean. It is known for sandy beaches and pristine dive sites which are home to an array of marine life including sea turtles and stingrays.  Charlestown lies on the western coast, at the southern end of Pinney's Beach and is the capital of the island.

Cruiser Highlights for Charlestown:

There are many 18th and 19th century Georgian-style buildings in Charlestown and the lack of modernization means the town is one of the best remaining examples of the colonial era in the Caribbean.

Entrance Notes and Cautions:

During the "off-season", Nevis Port remove all moorings to avoid wear/damage. Normally these are re-installed mid-October, however in 2024 there have been some problems and the moorings are still not in place. We are still waiting for clarification if they are continuing to charge the $25/night fee and prohibit anchoring until the moorings are reinstalled.

Charlestown Position:

17° 08'16"N, 62° 37'55"W.
