Explore: Mayaguez
General Info
COVID19: OPEN PORT
- See Biosecurity for yachting protocols.
Description:
Mayaguez is an easy landfall from the Mona Passage and after clearing, it is an easy passage south to Boqueron and onward. It is the largest commercial port on the west coast. That said there are no longer any CBP officers on site, so the closest clearance facility for non-US yachts is the BQN airport, 40km north of Mayaguez (take an uber or taxi).
Position:
18° 12.53’N, 67° 09.55’W (off the port)
Clearance
This is a Port of Entry.
See main Puerto Rico clearance page for full details.
For US boats that are registered in the LBO (Local Boaters Option) then a telephone call should be all that is required.
For non-US boats, there are no longer any CBP officers on site. This will mean taking a taxi to the closest clearance facility, which is at BQN airport, 40km north of Mayaguez. Non-US yachts should phone Customs on arrival.
Remember that all the crew has to attend the Immigration office.

YachtFlags.com provides high quality courtesy flags that are manufactured in durable Knitted Polyester fabric. Knitted so that the fabric itself does not deteriorate in the constant movement that marine flags are usually exposed to, and polyester so that the flag does not weaken in the strong UV-light usually found in the main sailing areas of the world.
