Where is Amsterdam?

Amsterdam is a busy and important city and is reached from the North Sea by the 15 miles long North Sea Canal, or through the lock at the southern end of the Ijsselmeer.

At the seaward entrance of the North Sea Canal lies Ijmuiden with its large marina.

Entrance Notes and Cautions for Amsterdam

The centre of the city of Amsterdam will be an emission-free zone for pleasure and recreational vessels from April 1, 2025 as the city moves to provide an environment with cleaner air, less CO2 and less noise. Only vessels with electric, hydrogen or manual propulsion will be allowed to enter the zone. Hybrid boats are welcome, as long as they are running with zero emission.  The following news item has more details.
