The Australian dollar (AUD$) is the legal tender on Nauru. Cash is still the preferred form of payment on the island. However EFTPOS is available in major supermarkets and some other outlets. Online payments are also accepted by most businesses.
There are a number of ATMs on the island that accept most bank cards. The most reliable ATM is at the Menen Hotel.
There is a branch of Australia's Bendigo Bank on the island, but this is due to close in June 2025.
Credit cards have very limited acceptance in Nauru.
