YachtFlags.com provides high quality courtesy flags that are manufactured in durable Knitted Polyester fabric. Knitted so that the fabric itself does not deteriorate in the constant movement that marine flags are usually exposed to, and polyester so that the flag does not weaken in the strong UV-light usually found in the main sailing areas of the world.

Moorings:
There are two or three private moorings available, allocated by Port Control.
There are two or three (pending on own usage) private heavy moorings available, and these again can be allocated by Port Control with assistance from Andy.
There is on-going discussions with the Lüderitz Yacht Club for new additional moorings that will belong to the club and will also be managed by the club.
The dinghy dock is not a public dock. You will need to ask permission to use it and pay a fee for doing so. Ask Port Control to contact Andy who will guide and help you, or call him yourself on +264 08 57244257 (VHF Channel 09).
Using the Waterfront jetty costs N$50/day. Alternatively, use the Yacht Club slipway or beach for dinghy landing.
As well as mooring assistance, Andy can also provide advice on where to go and what to visit and offers boat caretaking for a very reasonable fee, plus other services.

Anchoring:
The self-anchorage area is free, but located much further away from the yacht club and dinghy dock, which can mean a long, wet ride ashore. No anchoring is permitted in or near the mooring field, which has a very muddy bottom and poor holding. Keep clear of the channel when anchoring.
Landing can be made either on the beach or on the robust floating pontoon. Tie to the west side as trip boats occasionally use the east side.
It is advisable to rig some bird scarers (plastic bags?) in the riggings as the seagulls here are particularly messy and cause havoc on the boat in a very short time.
Dockage:
Port Control can allocate berths alongside one of the wharfs should it be required for emergency repairs.
Security:
Security all around the harbor is tight due to the proximity of the diamond fields and permits are required for any persons working on the diamond field property (i.e. in the boatyard). This usually means owners are excluded and cannot stay with their boat while in the boatyard.
Remember to contact Port Control on VHF channel 16 (manned 24 hours) on arrival, departure and before leaving the port/anchorage.
The Seven Seas Ldz Project in Luderitz has enabled simplified clearance for yachts visiting there, as well as its on-going research work into sustainable development. They can assist with local information, including services, tours and weather. Find out more at this report.
