Description:

Although the largest city in the French West Indies, Fort-de-France still retains its old quarter with its narrow streets and wrought-iron balconies. Best known for being the birthplace of Josephine, wife of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. The city occupies a site on the northern side of a large bay on the west coast of Martinique.

Entrance Notes and Cautions:

As of 1 December 2025, vessels may only anchor in Baie des Flamands in Fort-de-France for a maximum of 48 hours, with a monthly frequency of eight days per vessel. At the end of the 48-hour period, vessels are required to leave their anchorage and may not return to this area within 24 hours of their departure.
