Description:
Located on the southern coast of Madeira, Funchal is a popular port of call for cruise ships. It lies in a bowl with a dramatic mountain backdrop. It has many spectacular festivals, the foremost of which is that held on New Year's Eve and there are lots of sights and activity. A fun place to spend a couple of nights, although likely not that peaceful!
Entrance Notes and Cautions:
Record rainfall from Storm Oscar in June 2023 brought rocks, silt and debris to the entrance of the marina in Funchal, Madeira and blocked entry to and exit from the marina. Anyone intending to arrive here should first check conditions with the marina.
