As this is a nature reserve, a permit must be obtained in advance.

This can be obtained by emailing the Instituto das Florestas e Conservação da Natureza (IP-RAM) at [email protected] in the following format:

We hereby request a landing permit and a visit to the Desertas and Selvagens Islands in the month of month/year.

The day of landing will be __/__/201_, but depending on the weather as the vessel is a sailboat, perhaps we should consider a period of one week.

We have as crew:

– NAME – Nationality, Identity Card/Passport No. – Responsible for the vessel

– NAME – Nationality, Identity Card/Passport No.

etc.

Vessel:

NAME

– Port of Registry

– Registration number

– At ____ meters in length

– Sailing boat

We await your authorization in reply to (e-mail address).

Permits can also be obtained at The Natural Parks Department in Funchal or via any of the marinas. There is a warden on the island who will check.
