Haifa - Docking

May 16, 2023

Marina:

The Shavit Marina is situated to the north of town in the old Kishon fishing harbour.

The marina has 100 fishing boats and approx. 300 berths for yachts, but is quite congested with local vessels. Due to its land-locked position (inside Haifa Harbour), it is considered the safest marina in Israel, although the facilities are fairly minimal. All berths have electricity and water connections and there are sailor's showers.

In the marina, there are a couple of good marine stores, a small coffee shop, and a convenience store. A local sailor in the marina does good value sail repairs. Parking is easy and there is a green park close by.

Note: The marina is now open (May 2023) following dredging operations which will resume again in October 2023. See marina listing for details.

Ashore:

The town is a car/taxi ride away and taxis into town are expensive (approx. 100 shekels ($25)). However, the locals are very friendly and many will offer you a lift.
