Helsinki - Clearance

On arrival at the Helsinki traffic control area all vessels over 12 m shall maintain a permanent watch on VHF Channel 71. Vessels over 20 m must report to the station the name of the vessel, its route and destination. A similar report must be made before departure.

Clearance is done at Suomenlinna Island, southeast of Helsinki, at a special clearance station for yachts. This is approached from the SW, through a narrow channel at the north end of Susiasaari Island.

Berth at the jetty clearly marked "Passport Control". Your arrival will have been seen: wait to be visited. There is no exit off the jetty to the island except for officials. You must phone first (+358 2 0410 6900) (or VHF ch 74) to notify your arrival time (preferably during office hours): give at least an hour's notice.
