Christiansted Harbor is located on the north side of St. Croix. It is well-protected by a long reef and has an offset entry. The harbor has good anchorages, marina options, and marine facilities. The town of Christiansted has a population of just over 3000.
The entrance has good depths and is well-marked, however many buoys were mis-placed during hurricane Irma and have either not been replaced, or replaced with non-standard devices, making navigation difficult for visiting yachts.
There are many reefs and locals report several yachts grounded on reefs every year.
The entrance can be difficult with winds out of the north. Night or poor visibility entrance and exits should be avoided.
The town is a walkable size and includes a variety of services and infrastructure including marinas and services; post office; bank; stores; restaurants; taxis; car rentals and the Vitran Public Bus (with service to the airport and Frederiksted). The international airport is 15 minutes out of town. There are also a variety of historic and natural tourist sites.
