The only bank is on Wallis, a 20-minute walk from the harbour in the small "Fenuarama" shopping centre. There is an ATM however it is often out of money by the weekend.
There have been reports that large denominations of paper money (US$100, etc) are not accepted or changeable – even at banks.
Credit cards are accepted in a hotel and for car hire, but not by most shops.
