Lata, Ndendo Island (Santa Cruz Islands) - Docking

May 23, 2025

Anchorages:

There is a small bay to the east of Graciosa Bay, just below Shaw Point on Navionics charts, which is recommended by customs and immigration officials as the best place to anchor when clearing and out at Lata.  The bay is well protected from all but strong SW winds.  Good holding in the middle in 15m with 10m depths around.

Contact Hilda who lives on the peninsula above the bay who may welcome you on arrival and is keen to help visiting yachts:

Shaw Point

The anchorage at Shaw Point  is well sheltered but deep and the bottom is rock and coral.

A better anchorage is in the SE corner which while still deep is near a river and has mud holding. This anchorage is further from town, so make sure you have checked in first.
