Description:

This vibrant city, the third largest in Norway, was founded in 997. It is located about a third of the way up the west coast where the river Nidelva enters the large fjord of Trondheimsfjorden. Being well inland, it has a warmer, more sheltered climate than that prevailing on the coast.
