Officials ask for advance notice of arrival up to two weeks prior if possible. Contact the Commonwealth Ports Authority:
Read Northern Marianas Formalities for full details on clearing in to and out of the country.
Advise the Port Authority on VHF Channel 13 when near to the harbor for directions on where to moor and clearance instructions.
Recent cruiser reports (July 2025) suggest maintaining contact with officials and advise your ETA for clearance with Port operations. Either anchor as direction, or take up your marina berth and away Biosecurity and Customs clearance. Contact the Commonwealth Port Authority Vessel Operations (ph: 670 643554) and they will provide guidance and information on clearance processes.
Immigration clearance is done at the airport - you will be taken there by bus which is very helpful according to recent cruiser feedback (July 2025). You will be required to have a full US Visa on arrival.
Clearing out simply requires turning up at the Port Authority Office in the main Port area or contacting officials to advise them of your intended departure.
