San Juan del Sur - Provisions & Laundry

May 01, 2018

Generally the prices are higher here than elsewhere in Nicaragua due to the large population of foreigners.

There are many "pulperias" selling a wide range of food and other products. Two of the best stocked are "Sanchez's Pulperia" and "Calderon Pulperia". Just ask a local for directions.

There are a fresh fruit and vegetable market (rather run down) in front of the bus depot every day from sunrise to 1600 hours. Ice is available at the Texaco station. A better quality of fresh produce can be found at Rosio’s Market (VHF Channel 22).

Rivas, about 35 minutes away by taxi, is another good spot for provisioning. Rivas has a modern supermarket called PALI located across the street from BAC (Banco America Central).

Laundry service available from Rosio's Market (VHF Channel 22).
