Where is Aiwo?

This is the island's main settlement and lies on the western side.

Entrance Notes and Cautions for Aiwo:

During periods of bad weather Nauru does not have a safe or suitable anchorage and all moorings are exposed to the open water. The small boat harbour has a shallow draft (2m) and is unusable during bad weather.

The whole coast ringed with deep water and reef.

There are Fish Aggregation Devices at the following locations:

Yaren offshore

(i) Lat. 00° 36.557” S │ Long. 166° 56.204” E
(ii) Lat. 00° 36.678” S │ Long. 166° 56.027” E

Meneng offshore

(iii) Lat. 00° 34.130” S │ Long. 167° 00.670” E
(iv) Lat. 00° 34.158” S │ Long. 166° 57.789” E

All vessels approaching Nauru Port are required to keep at least 2NM clear from the above positions for the safety of vessels, FADs and fishermen.
