The harbour, located in Boka Kotorska bay, is right under the walls of the old city.
Anchoring:
It is possible to anchor directly off the town at the southern end of the main quay, but keep well clear of the harbour entrance as they are large cruise ships turning here. Dinghies can be docked at the small marina.
There is also an anchorage 7m north of the town.
Marinas:
Kotor Marina is located at the SE end of the main dock, identified by a small sign. The pontoons have lines tailed to the dock, marina staff direct you to a berth. Berth stern-to, depths 2-9m. The quay has water and electricity and fuel is available. Will often be crowded at weekend in the season.
You can also berth in the river entrance, near the harbour office, if the dock is free and not busy with cruise ships. It is quiet and sheltered here but can be subject to a strong current.
Yachts can also berth at the small village of Muo, a mile from Kotor. It has an open quay off the village and there is a bus service into Kotor. Depths 2-3m.
Plus the small marina at Prancj, on the opposite shore to Kotor, again just over a mile from the city. This marina has laid moorings, max. length 25m. The quay is short and exposed to the N/NE. Water and electricity available.
The Porto Montenegro, located in the Bay of Kotor, near Tivat city, is aimed primarily at superyachts. It is visible by the tall red and white striped crane located in the middle of its main dock. Duty-free fuel can be arranged here prior to clearing out. It's a port of entry with officials in the marina.
