Fanning Island/Tabuerean - Clearance

Mar 05, 2024

Post-Pandemic, Fanning Island is still not operating as a port of enty and inward clearance must first be made at Kiritimati.

See Kiribati Formalities for full details on clearing into and out of Kiribati.

You must report to the local police on any island you visit.

There is an anchoring fee here - only Australian and US dollars are accepted, and there are no banks or ATMs.

Beware of being asked to pay extra fees for no reason.

Landing supplies for local families is permitted but must be cleared with the customs official first and the duty paid. Alternatively, such gifts can be quietly given out on your boat.
