Buses are numerous on the north coast and across to Kingston.

To rent a car you must be over 25, have a valid driver’s license from another country and have a valid credit card. Security deposits may be hefty. Gas stations accept only cash. Safety seats for young children must be brought with you from home. (Rental of a car in Jamaica is not recommended for a first time visitor).
There are several recognized car rental companies located at the Norman Manley International Airport. Remember to drive on the left.

We anchored in front of the royal jamaican yacht club in march 2017 for a week. We felt safe and we didn’t have any issues at all. Of course we took the normal safety precautions; dinghy up and lock the door at night. We could use the great amenties of the yacht club for a very small, fair fee. The yacht club management is very friendly and extraordinarily helpful.
