Description:

Hurghada is located at the southern end of the Gulf of Suez.  It began life as a simple fishing village in the early 1900s but is now one of the Egypt’s most popular beach resort towns, renowned for its beautiful beach and scuba diving activities.

Entrance Notes and Cautions:

Moor in the SE corner of the commercial dock, which is deep and free of danger. Cruisers warn that fees here are very high.

Cruiser Highlights:

It is possible to secure an agent here for the Suez canal transit, although better deals may be found in Suez.  The marina is reported to be a safe place to leave your boat if going sightseeing inland or for crew changes.  Excellent fish market, a wonderful old Mosque and good supermarkets and restaurants.
