Description:
This is the main port of Ecuador and lies on the west bank of Guayas river, about 64 kms (40 miles) inland. There are two ports, the old port, and the new Puerto Nuevo, on the Estero Salado, which is a saltwater estuary lying parallel to the freshwater Guayas river. Both are navigable, although currents are strong. For a fee, the artificial canal, which has a depth of 2.7 meters (nine feet) at high water in parts of the entrance, can be used.

Docking
The Guayaquil Yacht Club is in the old port in the centre of Guayaquil. Access is via a bridge which opens at 06:00 and 18:00. There is only one small pontoon here for berthing, so it’s advisable to contact them in advance to arrange berthing.
