Mutsamudu - Provisions & Laundry

Jul 01, 2017

There are no supermarkets here.

The public market has a selection of fresh produce. Bananas and cassava are local, the rest is mostly from Madagascar or Tanzania.

The small fish market along the waterfront north of the port mostly has bonito/mack tuna. There is another larger fish market in town.

The “General Import” shop near the gates to the Port has freezer cases with chicken, red meat and a few dairy products in a refrigerator. Packaged/dry goods (flour, rice, crackers/biscuits, paper towels, etc.) are on shelves at the back.

Baguettes are readily available at bakeries and outlets around town.
