Bahrain Facts for Sailors

  • Bahrain is an archipelago in the southern Persian Gulf, between the Qatar Peninsula and the coast of Saudi Arabia. It is a small oil-producing country with a population of around half a million. It is connected to Saudi Arabia by a 26 km (16 mile)  long causeway.
  • It is made up of 36 islands, most of which are small, uninhabited coral reefs. Bahrain Island is the largest, making up 85% of the country's land area.
