Free Talk from SV Totem
Free live streams, approximately monthly, centered around cruising topics, by Behan and Jamie Gifford of SV Totem (twice circumnavigators).
Behan told Noonsite; “In all our years of cruising, we have never been in a storm aboard Totem – but the tsunami generated by a quake off Kamchatka on July 30th was our third. THIRD. The event was a wake up call for sailors around the Pacific. Three days later, we held a seminar to help cruisers assess, prepare, and take action if they face a tsunami threat: it’s now available to replay and share. This session covers:
- when to worry about an event that’s several thousands of miles away
- ways to determine impact locally
- what to do if you’re at sea or a remote atoll
- specific sites, apps, and other resources to monitor for
1) alerts
2) risk assessment
3) event monitoring and
4) aftermath analysis”
