DETAILS:

A catamaran with 11 persons onboard was boarded overnight while owners and guests were sleeping. The door was closed and locked, but the thief apparently entered through an open hatch in an occupied sleeping quarter. One of the owners was awakened by gusting winds and saw the thief rummaging at the chart table and quietly alerted her husband who made noise and turned on lights. The thief unlocked and then departed through the salon door, jumped overboard and swam away.
