We’ve just spent four weeks cruising Providencia, San Andres and Cayo Albuquerque.  Our yacht “Alba” is a British registered Hallberg Rassy 42F with a 2.0-metre draft.

Our Navionics electronics charts were okay in some places, but up to half a mile out in other spots.  We’ve created a set of navigation notes that can be found on our website giving GPS positions where necessary.

The navigation notes can be found at http://www.thehowarths.net/albacronicles/cruising-notes

We have used your navigation viewpoints for Cayos de Albuquerque and got in safely. Thank you! Unfortunately, they no longer allow people to come to shore, fish or dinghy around the islands. We jumped in the water and snorkeled the reef next to us … the clarity of the water was astonishing and it was worth the visit even though they have these silly restrictions. There aren’t many big fish anymore – you can see the fisherman going to San Andres every day fully loaded. I doubt it’s the cruising community that’s over fishing this area.
