Tartous is a small city and is Syria's second biggest port. Formerly known as Antaradus and Constantia, it has developed rapidly over the recent years. Quite a few ancient sites lie nearby, such as Amrit, Arwad, Krak Des Chevaliers and Al Marqab, all of which can be visited in a day trip.
