Latvia Immigration Procedures for Yachts
Visitors must have a passport valid for at least 3 months beyond return date and must also have at least two blank pages.
Latvia is a member of the Schengen Agreement Area. See Noonsite’s Schengen page for more details on the immigration rules.
Citizens of the United States, Canada, Australia, Israel, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Brazil and other countries do not need a visa to visit Latvia. For a list of countries whose citizens may also enter Latvia without a visa for stays up to 90 days, see www.mfa.gov.lv/en.
European Entry and Exit System (EES)
The first stage of implementing the Europe-wide entry and exit system (EES) was launched on 12 October 2025. This means that all non-EU crew must now have their biometric data recorded on entry and exit to/from the EU. Not all ports of entry will have systems in place to begin with, so handling these new immigration procedures may require some flexibility with your port of entry choice. Other Visa Concerns:
Visas can be extended at the Office of Citizenship and Migration for nationals which Latvia has a bilateral visa waiver agreement.
