Kuwait Clearance for Yachts
Call Port Control on VHF Channel 16 on approach and follow instructions.
All vessels must enter Kuwait waters between the Jabriya buoy to the north and the Ahmadiya buoy to the south, with any attempts to enter the country’s territorial waters to the north or south of this area being forbidden and subject to prosecution.
Vessels must go directly to the Oaha Buoy (29.16.00N – 48.26.00E) before proceeding in a straight line towards the KCG patrol vessels stationed in the area between Ras Al-Ard and Failaka Island.
Kuwaiti officials are sensitive about travel between Kuwait and Iraq. There are anecdotal reports about travelers detained for extended questioning when crossing the land borders between the two countries.
