Iceland - Immigration
Iceland Immigration Procedure for Yacht Crew
Although not a member of the EU, Iceland is a member of the Schengen Agreement Area. A uniform visa is issued by all Schengen states and is valid for travel throughout the region.
See Noonsite’ Schengen page for more details on the Schengen immigration rules.
Passports or identity cards of non-EEA/EFTA and UK citizens must be valid at least 3 months beyond the intended departure date and have been issued within the last 10 years.
Do you need a visa?
If you have already received a Schengen visa, you do not need to apply for a separate visa to travel to Iceland.
If you want to visit Iceland for less than 90 days and are from a country outside the EEA/EFTA, you may need to apply for a visa.
See the Iceland Immigration Site to check if you need a visa and the ETIAS site to confirm Visa Waiver eligibility.
Length of Stay
The validity of a uniform Schengen visa and visa waiver eligible visitors is up to 90 days in any 180 day period. See “Other Visa Information” below for long stay visa information.
See Noonsite’ Schengen page for additional details.
Other Visa Information
Icelandic embassies issue visas in four cities: London, New Delhi, Peking and Washington D.C. In about 120 other cities around the world, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has commissioned other Schengen member states to issue visas on Iceland’s behalf.
A list of these embassies and consulates is available on the Iceland Directorate of Immigration website. Note: This list can only issue short stay visas.
For long stay visa information see the Iceland Immigration – Long Stay Visa page. A long-term visa permits an extension of stay in Iceland for up to an additional 90 days beyond the time an individual could normally stay in Iceland. The long stay visa may only be issued once in any 12 month period.

COVID 19
Iceland is open for UK/EU pleasure crafts. As for now there is a 14 days quarantine that begins when you left the last port before reaching Iceland, and includes the time being at sea.
No later than June 15th there will be testing (or quarantine) for all incoming visitors and nationals, made by the Landspitali teams, in Reykjavik area. Tests will be free until end of June, after this the cost will be 50 000 ISK per test. Results are expected within 24h.
It is also important to note the exact definition of quarantine in Iceland : it only means you cannot meet other people (than the ones you are living in with) and so you can take your boat and sail, walk ashore, and so on, as long as you do not meet other people, especially inside buildings.
