Important news for all those US boaters interested in cruising to Cuba.
The new OFAC regulations provide much-needed clarification of the rules governing the travel by American citizens to Cuba.
Whilst traveling to Cuba is still possible, most importantly for cruisers, there is a list of prohibited marinas for boaters. Fortunately, however, the list does not include Marina Hemingway in Havana, Marina Cayo Guillermo, Marina Darsena in Varadero, Marina Cienfuegos and Marina Punta Gorda in Santiago de Cuba.
MARINAS (on the Prohibited list)
- Marina Gaviota Cabo de San Antonio (Pinar del Rio)
- Marina Gaviota Cayo Coco (Jardines del Rey)
- Marina Gaviota Las Brujas (Cayos de Villa Clara)
- Marina Gaviota Puerto Vita (Holguín)
- Marina Gaviota Varadero (Varadero)
The exact regulations prohibit Americans from doing business at the marinas on the list (i.e. paying money to berth there).
