Cape Verdes, São Vicente: Call for Donations for Flood Victims
Calling all sailing yachts en-route to Cape Verdes – please bring donations to help those affected. After the devastating floods caused by Tropical Storm Erin on Monday 11th August, many families in São Vicente have lost homes, belongings, and access to basic necessities. While donations have been very generous, there are still supplies that are very much needed.

UPDATE OCTOBER 2025
Thankfully, there has been an abundance of donations in terms of clothing, food, and household appliances, which is wonderful news.
However, with the start of the new school year, a very impactful way to support the affected families in need would be to provide school supplies and educational materials. This is currently identified as an excellent way to help the community get back on its feet.
Yachts heading towards the Cape Verdes with donations can contact the President of the Civil Protection service via WhatsApp.
Domingos Tavares: +238 992 6061
He and his team are the best point of contact to coordinate the delivery of any donations. They will then ensure all items are distributed to those in need. This is the most efficient way to get the help directly to the community.
Thank you.
