The Cruising Club of America (CCA) is a community of highly experienced ocean sailors recognized for their offshore seamanship, boat-handling skills, and leadership. Rather than a central clubhouse, the club is united through 14 stations across North America and Bermuda.
The CCA is a respected source of offshore sailing expertise. Members share their collective knowledge through seminars, local discussion groups, books, articles, and digital presentations. Topics include seamanship, safety, communications, best practices, and personal offshore experiences.
The CCA website hosts an extensive library of publicly available articles for sailors.
CCA members volunteer their time to write cruising guides, teach safety and seamanship, advance yacht design and technical standards, and support ocean-health initiatives in partnership with environmental organizations worldwide.
CCA cruising guides cover a wide range of destinations, including:
Maine
Nova Scotia
Newfoundland
Gulf of St. Lawrence
Labrador
Northwest Passage
Some of these guides are freely available to the public - go to CCA Cruising Guides to the Canadian Maritimes and Maine | Cruising Club of America
In even-numbered years, the CCA co-organizes the Newport Bermuda Race alongside the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club.
Membership is by invitation only, recognizing an individual’s ocean-sailing accomplishments and personal character.
