I arrived in Cebu and anchored close by to the Yacht Club. According to sailing forums and Noonsite posts a friendly welcome awaited me, leave the dinghy for a few hours at a small cost and explore.
Great!
Only, our welcome was positively hostile (even though we had been in email contact prior to arrival). We were escorted by security to the marina office and they demanded we book an inspection with Cebu quarantine officers at our cost and then they would allow us to use the dinghy to come ashore!
We are seasoned sailors and researched the protocols here in the Philippines ( of which vary according to where you are) but one thing we were sure of was when we checked into Surigao we wouldn’t be required to seek quarantine elsewhere.
Fellow sailors, THIS IS A SCAM!!
