The Port Authority has a number of places within the harbour where yachts may berth. In principle, if there is no port official present, visiting yachts should take any vacant berth. Port officials visit boats every day to collect charges for docking, electricity and water. They work from 0800-1500, 1630-1900, mornings only in winter. Visiting yachts can also moor stern to the main quay and use their own bow anchors. As some of these places face the harbour entrance, there is noticeably more swell than elsewhere. In addition, yachts left on the quay, and not on a pontoon with locked gates, are in danger of being broken into if left unattended.
