Where is Eden?

Eden is situated on the Sapphire Coast which is the southern most coastline of  New South Wales and borders the state of  Victoria.  The area became known as the Sapphire Coast for the clear sparkling waters of the ocean and the many lakes along its coastline.  It is situated on the beautiful harbour of Twofold Bay which is the third-deepest natural harbour in the Southern Hemisphere.  It is a principal commercial port and a major fishing town and has a long associated history with whales. Many species can be seen just offshore here during their annual migration (September to November).

Entrance Notes and Cautions

  • There are number of uncharted rocks to be aware of which are only visible during low tide.
  • Anchoring inside the break wall with a night time arrival is not recommended.
  • Priority on the wharf must be given to fishing vessels.
  • Fender boards are required.
  • Mooring lines can go to either bollards or around wharf pylons – which have hard plastic rubbing strakes.

Cruiser Highlights

There are plenty of things to do in Eden throughout the year, including relaxing on beautiful sandy beaches, fishing, kayaking, bushwalking and snorkelling. Snorkel or scuba dive in Twofold Bay and catch a glimpse of blue groupers and weedy sea dragons. Other adventure tours in the region include kayaking and fishing. Fuel available here.
